What a Mess!

Yes, "the work" is on the exterior but the interior needed to come apart to get the deck fittings off!

Casteele Paint 101

The ultra quick version of the paint process goes like this:
1) remove rigging and deck fittings
2) ultra high pressure water blast to remove the salt from the steel
3) remove hatches and windows and insert plywood
4) sand blast the rest
5) primer: within 4 hours
6) weld whatever needs to be welded
7) sand blast again
8) more primer
9) filling and fairing
10) primer
11) sandable epoxy layer
12) sand. sand. sand. sand......and when your arms fall off, sand again
13) epoxy
14) paint layer: nice and shiny
15) mask and paper
16) antiskid x 2: roll and sprinkle, roll and sprinkle, roll and sprinkle
17) repeat 11 thru 14 for the sides: RED shiny paint this time x 3
18) decorate
19) clear coat x 2
20) bottom: epoxy, epoxy, anitfoul, antifoul

Unwrapping Casteele

Now this is the best present we have ever unwrapped! It was also a nice way to have some family time again.

Putting Casteele Together Again

Scott gets to reinstall the deck hardware while Wayne continues with the paint along the sides and keel.

Time for the Sides

Thanks Wayne!

First Day of New School Year

Taking Daddy Lunch

Too many chemicals for everyone to be here often but today was a good day to drop in.

Beach Day

Hurray for Daddy taking a day off!

Cheeky Monkey

Cheeky Monkey got to come to our house after school. Watch out, apparently he eats all the chocolate and bananas! He got an overnight cuddle and then back to class the next day.

Toothless Beginnings

Alex's Present to Scott
