Surfboard Project

We found a kid's surfboard we can repair with some fibreglass leftover from the fridge project. Mya decides to build her own boat and Cory moves in to help.

Wetland Study

Wetlands (the scrubby) filter pollutants from the land runoff and help prevent erosion. They also prevent flooding (sorry Roy, we flooded your house for that demo...Lema's soursop jam is just too nice to flood her house. You should have built next to the wetland).
Then back to the wetland to draw the mangrove trees. Then what? oh yes, more mud.

Waiting for High Tide

Once back from a day at the hot springs, we had to wait for the tide to come up so we could leave. No problem with mud for entertainment and a gift of passionfruit.

Travel Back

We walked 3 km back from the hot springs mostly through the bush. On the last bit on the road we saw bananas, soursop, coconuts, oranges and a cow.

Hot Springs

The Pickerings have a hot spring on their land. Lema kindly asked her grandson to show us the way. Here Roy fills up his bottle from the spring before heading back after we assured him we could find the way. Cory was so excited he forgot about lunch. He also wanted to wash his clothes, so everyone else joined in. The 4 pools from the hot spring cool off on their way down to the creek. No one else around for miles. Except the wild pigeons making woofing noises.

Mangroves

Mangroves are trees that live in coastal swamps. They have special aerial roots, called prop roots, that grow from the air to the ground.

Mangrove Pass

You can visit the Pickerings if you can find the pass to the boat shed.

Fawn Harbour, Vanua Levu, Fiji

Fuel Day

Maybe mom and dad should have left it to the kids and gone for lunch?

More Travelling Mya

Fijian Healing Massage

It took awhile, but we found him. Banicau is massaging the arm Cory had broken. Locals go see him for bone healing. He made 2 trips to town to see Cory.

Citrus Lesson

We are never sure what kind of citrus it is. Size, outside colour and inside colour vary greatly. Here are a lime (orange inside), orange and lemon. In that order.

Cocoa Pod

Sushila from the market gave us a cocoa pod gift. The white stuff around the beans has a really nice flavour. Remove the beans and leave in the sun to dry before making your drink.

Togetherness

Ili's House

Ili was Cory's physiotherapist. Her family lives on the hospital grounds and she invited us over. Here she is handing Mya some bele from her garden.

Yoga in Fiji

Steph took some yoga classes at the Daku Resort. That's the yoga platform and its inspiring view.

Scott Mountain Bikes

That's not a mountain you say? Yes, his hands may have been full during the hilly bits.

Run, run run after dinner at the marina. Gigi always joins in.
