Vava'u Mishmash

Vava'u is easier to navigate with calmer anchorages.
But there are lots of boats (up to 20 in an anchorage so far) and damaged coral.
Beautiful though. hilly and lush.

Mya Bobs Around

The very calm anchorages in Vava'u have been very nice for Mya's floating about.

Sailing Dinghy

Our guests arrive in style and then Cory heads out. Zeke (age 10) and Nina (age 8) give Cory a tour in their dinghy. The dinghy was built by their mom. Talented group from the boat Callisto.
Mya spent a week asking where the sailing dinghy had gone and Cory always wants to know when Callisto can visit again.

Vava'u

Vava'u is the Tongan island group north of Ha'apai and south of the Nius group.
Here we are entering the group and heading for the channel to take us to the harbour after an all night sail.

Snorkel

Great drift snorkel in the pass.

Hermit Crabs

Catching crabs and hermit crab races are a good way to spend some time.

Fender Bouncing

Also known as Boko Bouncing. You may need to read Mark Inkpen book on Boko bouncers. Found in the kids section.

More Uhia

We thought Uhia was a beautiful village. We met some of the boys again in the "big town" of Pangai. They were quick to ask about missing family members by name and were very amused that Steph was dinghying around without Scott. Village life is very much about the men out fishing and the women home with kids and the umu. Lysee did say that every MAN in the Ha'apais needs a boat as a matter of survival. This community had more resources than some of the earlier ones-running water and electricity for 6 hrs each night. And the bakery which is open after naptime on Sunday.
