Wahoo! A wahoo!

Hurray! Fish number two!

Bilibili

The bilibili is the name of the traditional Fijian raft made from bamboo. Riding the minisurf with the guides before the tour of the marine reserve was definitely Cory and Mya's favorite part of the day.

Swinging Cory

Just on the edge of Lavena where we began, Cory got in a swing ride while waiting for Mya legs to catch up. Can you tell that Gabrielle has kids of his own?

Drying Kava, Lavena, Taveuni, Fiji

Lavena Coastal Tour, Taveuni, Fiji

The coastal walk was a bit far for us so we opted to kayak one way. This was the windward side of Taveuni, at high tide. Mya wondered what we were doing since we normally avoid waves like that. Cory had the time of his life. Sorry, no pics of that. Our hands were full keeping the kayak on track! They moved us into a power boat so we could see the bonus waterfall before low tide. Some expert driving to get us into there. We walked then swam to the next waterfall. The quantity of food consumed by C&M was astounding for our waterfall snack time. The guide then understood why our packs were so big. It was a beautiful 2 hr walk back. The kids did not walk the whole way but we think we are making huge progress as to the places we can now go! and many thanks to Gabrielle for piggy backing Cory and letting him grab hold of trees. This was not part of the normal tour:)
Lavena village had some help getting started, but they run the tours and the money stays with them. They have agreed to keep their land as a natural preservation area.

Evening Entertainment

The men entertain the dinner guest with the ukelele and guitar while singing traditional (and some not so traditional tunes). That's the traditional kava bowl in the middle.
